After a rough flight from Cleveland through Chicago (a screaming baby, turbulence, thunderstorms, and vomiting were all involved at some point), we arrived in San Diego at 2:30am EST. Luckily, an oasis awaited us at Scout and Frodo's house. The trail angels were hosting 12 hikers who planned to head out the following morning, but we were directed to our own little area in a pop-up trailer in their driveway.
Today was spent buying last-minute odds and ends, salivating over gear at REI, and enjoying the hospitality of Scout, Frodo, and Jan. Scout and Frodo's home is laid out to meet hikers' needs, with all the drawers and cupboards in the kitchen labeled, snacks available at all times, and extra towels and sheets accessible. We've already met many new people from NC, GA, MA, Ireland, and Israel, among other places.
Tomorrow morning 8 of us will make the hour-long drive to Campo to begin our adventure. I can't wait!
I'm excited for the both of you! Can't wait to read your posts from the trail.
