I'd rather be camping

As work grows more stressful and time-consuming, dreams of the Pacific Crest Trail are becoming more and more appealing. Who wants to be stuck working 40+ hours a week doing awful work when they could be hiking 2,650 miles of beautiful trails across California, Oregon, and Washington? Not me, that's for sure.

Nerdy as I am, I've been working on a gear-prep notebook comparing different brands and types of gear like packs, sleeping bags, and shelters. Nerdy as Nolan is, he's been working on a spreadsheet of different pieces of gear and how much each item weighs. Most details are yet to be worked out, but the general plan is to sell most of our bigger furniture, etc. in March, spend some time with our respective families, then take a train across the country and begin hiking at the beginning of April.

As April gets closer, posts here will become much more frequent. For now, feel free to read more about the PCT here and here .
